From Residence to Educational Facility
Diede Construction was awarded a contract to take undeveloped ranch land that was donated to the City of Fairfield and turn it into the Dunnell Nature Park & Education Center. A dilapidated residence was converted into the Nature Education Center equipped with conference rooms and a commercial kitchen. An expanse of new storefront doors leads out to a stained concrete patio covered by an elaborate trellis supporting a solar panel array. Concrete and decomposed granite pathways beneath soaring oak trees lead to features of the park including demonstration gardens, a creek overlook area, adventure play areas and native grasslands. Informational signage throughout the park details the history of the site, the ecology of the area and the native plant species installed throughout the park.
